Images of Port Byron, 70 pages, full color. A photographic tour of Port Byron using period postcards and images between 1870 and 1960, with most images being from the golden age of postcards, 1905 to 1940. Topics covered are; the downtown business district, the Erie Canal, the trolley years, the schools, the churches, and more. Regina Gates note cards. We are offering these note card sets that highlight the much-loved artwork of Regina Gates, a former art teacher in the Port Byron schools. The proceeds from the sale of these note card sets will help the Society maintain our Pine Street Research Library as well as fund our upcoming 2021 photograph digitization project. There are two of each cards (total of ten) and they measure four by five and a half, and come with envelopes.  The sets are $15 per set of 10. They make perfect gifts! Howland’s Island History and Savannah Muckland Farming History, by Robert Mead, November 2007. This 84-page book in a 8 by 5.5 inch format, is divided into two parts. The first 46 pages give a detailed history of Howland’s Island, who lived there and how the island was used over the years. The second half covers the history of farming the rich bottom land soil known as muck. Robert includes an index of names and places as many local families are included in this work. Robert was a local historian and served on the boards of the Galen and Butler Historical Societies. These books are $10.00. (Plus $3 S&H)

 

Postcards. We have reprinted some of the more colorful historic postcards that show scenes from around the village. These packets contain 20 cards, with 18 different images and two doubles. These are real postcards that are of heavy stock and can be mailed. These are $15 for non-members and $10 for members. (Plus $3 S&H)

Erie  Canal Soaps. This spring Syracuse Soapworks added to its commemorative collection of Erie Canal soaps with its newly designed “Lock 52 Canal” soap! As are all Soapworks bars, “Lock 52 Canal” is made with natural vegetable oils and scented with pure essential oils. “Lock 52 Canal” features a refreshing orange-lavender fragrance. We carry the complete line of eight Erie Canal soaps, each with its own distinctive scent and a bar wrapper that shows a local canal scene. Each bar is $4.00, or $3.00 for members (Plus $2.00 S&H). The Amazing Impossible Erie Canal. This fun children’s book is richly illustrated with scenes from the old Erie Canal. It is history, it is fun to look through the drawings and see what you can find.

We have available a few, signed by the author herself, copies of Cheryl Harness’ book “The Amazing Impossible Erie Canal”. The cost is $10.00 plus $3 SH if you wish them to be mailed.
